BiasRubric (“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under GDPR and CCPA.
Data We Collect
When you use the bias checker (no account):
- IP address (for rate limiting only; not stored after the request)
- Article URL (if provided via URL mode)
- Bias scores and model reasoning (stored in our database)
- We do NOT store article text. Text is analyzed in memory and discarded.
When you create an account:
- Email address
- Name and profile photo (from Google OAuth, if used)
- Subscription status and Stripe customer ID
- Check history (URLs and scores only)
How We Use Data
- To provide and improve the bias analysis service
- To enforce rate limits and plan limits
- To send account-related emails (magic links, receipts)
- Aggregate, anonymized analytics to improve model prompts
Data Sharing
We share data with:
- Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI — Article text is sent to these AI providers for analysis. Each provider's privacy policy applies to data sent to their APIs.
- Stripe — For payment processing
- Supabase — Database hosting (data stored in the EU)
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
- Access: Request a copy of your data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt-out: CCPA users may opt out of any sale of personal data (we do not sell data)

Cookies
We use a single session cookie for authentication (NextAuth). No advertising or tracking cookies. The embedded widget uses no cookies.
Data Retention
Analysis results are retained indefinitely to support shareable links. Account data is retained until you request deletion. Rate limit data (IP) is discarded after 1 hour.
